Sworn Translation
A Sworn Translation is a translation performed by a Sworn Public Translator, or, in other words, by a translator that has been approved in a civil service exam of translators and interpreters. The translations are printed on the translator’s letterhead paper containing his/her personal data. A sworn translation has the same legal validity as its original and the translator’s signature attests that it is a true and faithful translation of the original document, as per Decree No. 13.609.
A Sworn Translation is required whenever books, documents and other papers written in a foreign language must be submitted in court or to any federal, state or municipal government department, or to any entity maintained, directed or inspected by government.
